Some efforts for AWS helping coronavirus pandemic for customers have been take to cope with negative effects of the outbreak for global businesses. The cloud provider has been assisting its AWS Partner Network members dealing with rapid changes on remote working trend amid the pandemic.

Among the efforts are online training and certification offerings, fee waivers and other concessions. Rima Olinger, global alliance lead at AWS, said that the majority of the customers asked for guidance on digital marketing approaches to today’s environment. Virtual training and deadline extension are quite necessary, too.

She said that the AWS provides on-demand webinars and digital marketing assistance for the customers.

Virtual and digital staff training is on a high demand. The AWS partners plan to hold the training method in the upcoming 60 and 90 days, says the results of an informal poll by AWS released last month.

Therefore, AWS made new training and certification resources for remote learning for members of the AWS Partner Network. The resources contain materials for free. The contents of the materials include business courses to learn about AWS services and core business value propositions to technical courses to obtain a fundamental technical knowledge of the AWS cloud platform. The partners can also get materials on developing and extending their professional services competencies. More than 500 digital training courses are available for free for the partners for improving their AWS cloud skills.

Besides training, certification becomes another effort on how AWS helping coronavirus pandemic for the customers. AWS automatically extended expiration dates for its certifications globally by six months for those set to expire between Feb.16 and June 30. The decision will hopefully help the partners taking exams.

Moreover, AWS prolonged applicable certification program benefits tied to active certifications. Certification exam vouchers become another area of extension. It extended vouchers with expiration dates between Feb. 1 and July 31. AWS updated expiration dates for vouchers purchased through the third-party Xvoucher platform that are available for candidates and administrators in their Xvoucher accounts.

The certification or recertification extensions later apply to AWS Certified Solutions Architect- Associate exam (SAA-C01) and practice exam (SAA-P01), and the AWS Certified Big Data Specialty (BDS-C00) certification exams until July 1. The exams previously retired in March and April.

AWS provides digital preparatory online classes and remote AWS certification exams via Pearson VUE. Online proctors remotely monitor the exams.

The last segment on the measures taken by AWS helping coronavirus pandemic for the clients lies on new tier support. AWS enables the partners maintaining their 2019 APN tier status through 2020. The policy aims at helping the partners putting more focus on supporting their customers instead of meeting program requirements.

AWS has waived fees until June 30 for AWS IQ thereby its customers can quickly find and pay AWS-certified, third-party experts for on-demand project works. AWS IQ was launched last October. In May 2020, AWS waived AWS IQ’s 3 percent fee charged to buyers and 15% percent fee charged to experts for all approved payment requests until June 30.

Jay Allen, an AWS IQ director, said the AWS IQ offers experts the chance earning income using their AWS skills through projects ranging from configuring an AWS service to developing end-to-end applications. The opportunity is for US-based AWS IQ experts with AWS certifications.
