International market research company IHS Markit is using AWS cloud infrastructure migration to cope with its growing business that requires more scalable and more secure cloud computing solutions.

The company is focusing more on the infrastructure and application during the whole phase of AWS cloud infrastructure migration. At the same time, it will downsize its data centres. The overall contract will run for three years. Amazon Web Services or AWS is providing its public cloud for taking up most of client’s data-processing infrastructure and hundreds of applications out of its data centres.

The firm sees AWS cloud infrastructure migration as important step for securing the resiliency and innovation across its various corporate platforms and end-user applications.

According to HIS Markit CIO Chad Moss, the movement will also assist his office for sending good research results to its clients. This is the second pivotal cooperation between the two. Previously, IHS Markit selected AWS for managing some of its products.

Meanwhile, Yaacov Mutnikas, CTO and chief data scientist at IHS Markit, said that a confidential and top cloud-based storage provides two profound benefits. The first is helping its customers, from transportation to energy and natural resources, handling strategic and operational challenges. The second one is equipping the firm coping with rapid digital transformation.

Through the new scheme, the research firm expects it will make use of the AWS cloud product portfolio, such as machine learning and data analytics tools. Moreover, VMware Cloud on AWS Service will provide good chance for the company for moving their on-promise VMware vSpehre workloads to the AWS cloud.

In response to the client’s statements, Mike Clayville, vice president of worldwide commercial sales at AWS, said the partnership will bring good influence to the research company’s clients.

He said that the customers can make use of the cooperation for making decisions on increasing efficiency, surpassing competitors and pushing growth. The AWS’s portfolio will enable IHS Markit obtaining better insights from data through the cloud provider’s machine learning and analytic.
